How to measure for internal kits

Confirm internal alcove dimensions, depth clearances for hanger rails, tower heights, and obstacle checks.

01Cavity Width

Measure Cavity Width (Wall to Wall)

Measure the wall-to-wall width inside your wardrobe alcove at the top, middle and floor. Use the narrowest measurement to choose a kit, and check the supported opening size listed for that particular design.

Use the smallest width
02Internal Depth

Measure Internal Depth (Back Wall to Track)

Measure the clear depth from the back wall to the front line where sliding door tracks will sit. We recommend a minimum depth of 550 mm–600 mm so clothes hangers (standard 420–450 mm) hang freely without rubbing against doors.

550 mm – 600 mm recommended
03Vertical Height

Measure Bulkhead / Ceiling Height

Measure the height from floor to ceiling or the top bulkhead. Standard kit towers are 1950 mm high. Allow space for the top shelf above the towers and check your chosen kit’s dimensions before ordering.

1950 mm Tower + Top Shelf
04Level & Clearances

Check Floor Level & Wall Obstructions

Inspect the floor for dips or slopes where towers will sit. Check for skirting boards, electrical outlets, or cornices. If skirtings are present, towers can either sit forward of them or skirtings can be scribed and notched on-site.

Check skirtings & power points

Top shelf & rail inclusions: Top shelf lengths and quantities depend on the kit. Check its component list and supported opening size before ordering. Where included, shelves and 3 m hanging rails are supplied in stock lengths for trimming on-site to suit that layout.
