What Is a Walk-In Wardrobe?
A walk-in wardrobe is a small room or partitioned area dedicated entirely to clothing and storage, fitted out with hanging rails, shelving and drawers along its walls. Unlike a built-in wardrobe, there are no doors across the storage itself — you walk directly into the space to access everything at once.
Why Choose Walk-In
Walk-in wardrobes offer the most storage capacity and the easiest visibility of your entire wardrobe at a glance, since everything is laid out around the room rather than stacked behind sliding panels. They also create a dedicated dressing space, often paired with a mirror or bench seat.
Where It Works Best
Walk-in wardrobes suit main bedrooms with a spare room, generous ensuite-adjacent space, or a section of the room that can be partitioned off. They are a popular addition in new builds and major renovations.
Choose Your Walk-In Kit
Choose one of our L-shaped or U-shaped kits, then select your cabinetry finish and hanging rail colour. L-shaped kits suit walls up to 2 m × 2 m, and U-shaped kits suit walls up to 2 m × 2 m × 2 m. Kits use standard towers, with top shelves and rails trimmed on-site to suit your walls. For other sizes or layouts, explore our individual components.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much space do I need for a walk-in wardrobe?
Check each kit’s supported wall lengths and allow enough clear space for access, hanging clothes and opening drawers. Floor area alone does not establish whether a layout will fit. Send us a photo and measurements if you would like help choosing.
Can a walk-in wardrobe have a door?
A walk-in space can have an entry door, but the suitable system depends on the opening. Contact us with a photo and measurements to discuss it; an entry door is not included with the internal kit.
Is a walk-in wardrobe more expensive than a built-in?
Generally yes, since it involves fitting out multiple walls rather than a single opening, though the exact cost depends on the size and internal configuration chosen.
